Thanks for downloading the Plane Safety Podcast with Pilot Pip.

In this episode we are definitely not at Wings Over Pittsburg meet up with the rest of the aviation podcasting community. Instead we are talking about my visit to the Farnborough tower, PAR approaches and taking a dip into the Squawkbox.

Squawkbox

Richard Nash says hi and has some thoughts on my missed flight.

Jacob Schumann from Vienna has a question on fatigue management.

Capt Oli says hi.

Tony Arungah has a suggestion for future podcasts

Barbara Parish has a cunning plan.

  • Thanks for your podcast, excellent stuff as usual. Interesting thoughts on the airspace around farnborough. One big problem with putting transponders etc. on gliders is the cost. When you include the installation and certification costs, it can add up to a significant portion of the cost of the aircraft - 1/4, third or more. Image the highway authority mandating a two thousand pound recorder be put on all cars going into London. You've just excluded everyone driving older vehicles! Another problem is that gliders can't loiter waiting for a clearance to get to a cloud. It is disturbing that gliders get lost in ground clutter. Perhaps Atc should add Flann monitoring, rather than putting the cost on others.
